Michael R. Smith, CFP®, CFS®

As a senior member of JW Nova Wealth Partners, Mike has dedicated more than 17 years of his professional life to helping his clients address their financial concerns and develop sound strategies by focusing on each individual’s specific needs.

Mike began his career as a Financial Advisor with Wachovia Securities in 2005 to take a team approach to providing personalized financial advice for individuals and families. In 2009, Mike earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation by completing an approved educational program, passing a rigorous exam, and meeting stringent experience requirements.

Growing up, he learned the value of a hard-earned dollar by working as a paperboy in grade school to buy his first computer, which served as his first stock research terminal. While earning his Bachelor of Science degree at the Pennsylvania State University, his studies in Information Sciences led him to a passionate interest in the intersection of finance and technology. After college, he worked as a consultant until he found the most rewarding application of his interests by helping families and institutions achieve their financial goals as their advisor.

Mike is an avid reader and fly-fisherman, and he enjoys staying active both mentally and physically. He completed the Philadelphia Marathon in 2011, passed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam in 2012, and earned the Certified Fund Specialist® designation in 2015. He is a volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Philadelphia, where he currently resides.
